Privacy Policy
Overview
Bug Out is an online multiplayer game. This policy explains what data the game handles, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your data. The game shows ads through Google AdMob and offers optional in-app purchases, both described below.
What we collect
- Anonymous account. To let you play with others we use Unity Gaming Services to create an anonymous account, a random id with no email, name, or login required.
- Display name. You may set a display name. Other players can see it in lobbies, matches, on the weekly leaderboard, and (if you use the friends feature) friend requests.
- Friends data. If you use the optional friends feature, your friends list, requests, and online presence are processed to make it work.
- Game progress. Your chosen character, skins and cosmetics, coin balance, daily-mission and rank progress, and match statistics are stored on your device. The parts that cost money or playtime (characters, skins and cosmetics you own, your coin balance, colour unlocks, your career score, and the Remove Ads and Starter Pack purchases) are also backed up to your anonymous account with Unity Cloud Save, so they survive a reinstall or a new device.
- Weekly leaderboard. The score you earn in online matches each week is submitted to a leaderboard run on Unity Gaming Services under your anonymous account id and display name. Every player can see the leaderboard, so your display name and weekly score are visible to others. The board resets every week.
- Gameplay state. During a match, real-time state such as position and actions is exchanged with the other players in your session (that is how multiplayer works). To find players on the same Wi-Fi network, the game may send a small discovery message on your local network; it contains no personal data. On iOS the system asks for local-network permission before this can happen.
- Crash and diagnostics data. We use Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics) to collect crash reports, device and app information, and basic app-usage events (for example match started, match ended, which character and skin you played, when you were caught, ad watched, purchase completed, daily reward claimed) so we can fix bugs and balance and improve the game. These events are tagged with your anonymous account id so sessions and players are counted correctly. They contain no email, real name, or payment details.
- Purchase history. When you buy something with real money, the app store (Google Play, or the Apple App Store on iOS) sends the game a purchase receipt. We check that receipt on your device, record which product you bought so we can deliver it and restore it later, and log the purchase as an analytics event. See the Purchases section below.
- Advertising identifier. The game shows ads served by Google AdMob. The AdMob software starts when the game starts and uses your device's advertising identifier to select, show, and measure ads. See the Advertising section below.
What we do NOT collect
Email, real name, phone number, contacts, precise location, and photos. We do not sell your personal data.
How it is used
Solely to operate and improve the game: sign you in, connect you to matches, show your name to other players in your session, run the optional friends feature, back up and restore your progress and purchases, deliver items you bought, diagnose crashes and bugs, and show ads.
Advertising
The game is free to play and is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. There are two kinds:
- Rewarded ads, which you choose. You can tap a "watch ad" button to earn in-game coins or unlock a cosmetic option. Nothing plays unless you tap it.
- Interstitial ads, which we may show. We may show a full-screen ad between matches, on the game-over screen when you return to the lobby. These are limited: they follow online matches only, appear at most once every few completed matches and no more often than a set time apart, and never interrupt a match, the lobby, or joining a game.
You can switch the between-match interstitial ads off permanently with the one-off Remove Ads purchase described below. Rewarded ads stay available to everyone, because you choose whether to watch those.
To select, deliver, and measure ads, AdMob accesses your device's advertising identifier. We do not use your data for cross-app tracking beyond what AdMob requires to serve these ads, and we do not sell your data. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings. More detail is in Google's advertising policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the game shows you a consent form the first time it runs, where you choose whether your data may be used for personalised ads. You can reopen that choice at any time from Settings › Ad Privacy Options. Declining does not lock you out of any part of the game, you simply see non-personalised ads. On iOS, the system also asks separately for permission to track before the advertising identifier can be used.
Purchases
The game is free to play and offers optional in-app purchases. Payment is handled entirely by the app store (Google Play, or the Apple App Store on iOS). We never receive or store your card or payment details. The store sends us a receipt confirming the purchase so we can deliver the item. What is on sale:
- Coin packs (consumable): three sizes, Handful of Coins, Pile of Coins, and Hoard of Coins. Coins are in-game currency spent in the store on characters and skins. The exact number of coins a pack grants is shown on its button in the in-game store at the time you buy. Coins are used up when you spend them, and a pack can be bought again.
- Starter Pack (one-off, non-consumable): a one-time bundle of coins at a discount, available once per account. The number of coins is shown on its card in the in-game store at the time you buy.
- Character skins (one-off, non-consumable, one product per skin): a cosmetic look for a specific character. Some skins are bought with coins, others with real money; the price is shown on the skin's card in the store. A skin changes how a character looks, never how it plays.
- Remove Ads (one-off, non-consumable): permanently removes the between-match interstitial ads described above. It does not remove the optional rewarded ads, because you choose whether to watch those, and it does not grant coins.
What you own is tied to your anonymous account and backed up with Unity Cloud Save. A one-off purchase such as a skin, the Starter Pack or Remove Ads can be re-applied on a new device from Settings › Restore Purchases. Refunds are handled by the app store under its own policy. Prices named here are US dollar reference prices; your store charges in your local currency.
Sharing and service providers
Your display name and in-game actions are shared with the other players in your match. We use the following service providers to run the game:
- Unity Technologies (matchmaking, lobbies, relay, friends, anonymous auth, the weekly leaderboard, remote configuration, and the cloud backup of your progress and purchases). Unity privacy policy.
- Google Firebase (crash reporting and analytics). Firebase privacy information.
- Google AdMob (rewarded and interstitial ads, uses the advertising identifier). Google advertising policy.
- Google Play billing, and on iOS Apple, process your payment and issue the purchase receipt. We receive the receipt, never your payment details.
Age and children
Bug Out is intended for players aged 13 and over. It is rated 12+ by IARC and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the minimum age of consent in your region). If you believe a child under that age has provided data, contact pexzu.games@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Your choices and data deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings › Delete Account in the app. This removes your Unity anonymous account together with the cloud backup of your progress and purchases, and erases on-device data. If you cannot access the app, email pexzu.games@gmail.com to request deletion. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
Deleting your account does not delete the record the app store keeps of a purchase, which belongs to your store account and is not ours to erase. On the same store account, Settings › Restore Purchases re-applies one-off purchases such as Remove Ads; spent coins are not restored.
Changes
We may update this policy as the game evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
